Detroit roots.
A restless electronic mind.

Born and raised in Detroit, James von Schmittou is the person behind VONKOSM. A music fan since the ’80s, he grew up with a lasting pull toward the city’s underground electronic culture and the sounds that refused to stand still.

By day, he works in systems engineering, architecture, automation, and endpoint security. Outside that world, the same curiosity turns toward music theory, rhythm, and sound: taking things apart, finding what makes them move, and building something of his own.

Daft Punk, The Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, and The Prodigy helped shape that instinct. Skrillex, Excision, and Borgore pushed it toward heavier territory. VONKOSM carries those influences forward with a desire to reconnect with electronic music’s raw energy, experimentation, and physical impact.
